Software giants Microsoft has finally revealed information on their upcoming new Microsoft SQL Server 2005 product line. This new update from the stables of Microsoft would come in four editions and hardware manufacturer Dell is expected to promote it heavily with its server range of computing solutions.

Microsoft says that SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition will be a complete data and analysis platform capable of serving large mission-critical business applications. They would be targeting medium-sized businesses with their standard edition offering of the SQL Server 2005. While the Workgroup Edition would be promoted as an “affordable, easy-to-use and simple-to-manage” database solution for small to medium-sized organizations.

Microsoft would also be releasing an express edition of the application, which would be free and downloadable for usage in building simple data-driven applications. Dell would be the first PC Manufacturer to make available these products from the Microsoft’s Portfolio to the end consumers. They would be releasing Workgroup Edition and Standard Edition for both SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005, pre-packaged with Dell PowerEdge servers.
