Freespire 2.0 comes with support for proprietary software, drivers and codecs
Linspire has announced the launch of their latest Freespire edition. This free Linux distribution is in version 2.0 now.
The company has made it possible for the users to add proprietary software, drivers and codecs from other vendors in this edition.
The Freespire is based on the popular Ubuntu 7.04 distro for its base and it offers software from six categories. Some of the softwares present in these categories are proprietary ones.
Larry Kettler, Linspire’s chief executive spoke about this new release: “Freespire 2.0 picks up where Ubuntu leaves off by adding proprietary software, drivers and codecs, to make for a more complete turnkey solution for mainstream desktop computing.”
The company added that this release comes loaded with a click-and-run (CNR) plug-in for the upcoming CNR Service. This service has been designed for the users to make it easier for them to get access to thousands of applications easily.
