Microsoft Silverlight being used on Major League Baseball website

Microsoft Silverlight 2 beta is out

Microsoft launched their Silverlight technology in April this year. The technology has been designed to challenge the domination of Adobe Flash on the web.

It provides a browser plugin to allow web users to view the content being streamed using the Silverlight technology.

The technology has now found its first mega user in the form of Major League Baseball which is now using the version 1 of the software to broadcast interactive video content.

The website is using this Microsoft technology to showcase video highlights of baseball games.

The videos are being presented along with news stories and other content on the site.

MLB representative Matthew Gould said in a statement that they are just in the early stages of using Microsoft Silverlight on their website.

The website has been using Windows Media Player and Flash technology for video broadcasting before this Silverlight implementation.
