Apple announces iLife ’08 office suite
With Microsoft announcing that their Office 2008 for Mac is now delayed, Apple is stepping in with their iLife ‘08 office suite.
The company showcased this updated suite of digital lifestyle applications at the same event where they showcased their newly launched iMacs.
The Apple iLife comes loaded with iPhoto digital-image management program; iMovie for editing digital video; iWeb for building Web pages; iDVD for creating DVDs; and GarageBand for recording music.
They have updated all these applications with new features and enhancements. The Apple iPhone application now comes with a new feature named Events. It makes it easier for the user to navigate through collections of photos associated with events like vacations, holidays, and other occasions.
It also comes with a “skimming” feature to enable the user to see different photos associated in an event by moving their mouse over the event icon.
The Apple iMovie has now been updated to add support for AVCHD format for High-Definition video. It also comes with the skimming feature. Users would be able to export movies to the iPod, iPhone, Apple TV and .Mac Web Gallery. Google YouTube support is also present.
Apple has also updated their iWeb application to support personal domains owned by the user.
The company also showcased their Magic GarageBand feature which they claim makes it easier for the user to create music projects.
Apple also announced that .Mac users would now get 10GB of online storage space. The monthly data transfer limit has been raised to 100 Gigs.
