Nokia to use Microsoft’s PlayReady digital rights management (DRM) technology
Microsoft has announced that they are now collaborating with Nokia. World’s largest mobile phone maker Nokia would now license Microsoft’s PlayReady digital rights management (DRM) technology.
This technology would then be integrated into their S60 software which is one of the most popular mobile platform in the world.
This new development is likely to help Nokia boost the availability of media on the mobile platform.
The S60 platform is used in smartphones manufactured by not only Nokia but also Samsung and LG.
Interestingly, the biggest challenger to Nokia’s mobile platform comes from Microsoft itself which provides the Windows Mobile platform for mobile devices.
Microsoft and Nokia further said that they would also work together to enhance and simplify consumer access to digital content using mobile devices.
