Microsoft to keep their Anti-Spyware application free

Microsoft chairman Bill Gates cleared all the doubts that might have been arising in users mind regarding their recently launched Anti-Spyware application. Microsoft bought the Giant Software Company, which specialized in releasing software to fix Spyware Problems in the Windows Operating System and later released Microsoft Anti-Spyware as a free beta download.

There were rumors floating around that the free beta was just a testing phase of the application and Microsoft would turn it into a subscription based model for the users of the software to generate profit from the industry it has recently decided to enter.

However, Bill Gates addressed the media and the public at the RSA Conference 2005 in San Francisco and said: “Just as spyware is something that we have to nip down today, we have decided that all licensed Windows users should have that protection at no charge”.

The decision seems to be inspired by the Microsoft’s effort to make their applications secure and protected from worms and viruses, something that they have been working on for quite sometime. Windows XP Service Pack 2 was totally emphasized towards making the Operating System secure. And another announcement related to a new version of Internet Explorer is targeted at the same goal of making Windows more secure.

The crucial question is… what would Microsoft do with their upcoming Anti-Virus Application.
