Apple iPhone reportedly compromised by a group of security researchers

Independent Security Evaluators (ISE) has said in a statement that they have managed to find a flaw in the recently launched Apple iPhone mobile phone product.

The group has launched a website stating the flaw and its exploitation. They are claiming that hackers can possibly gain access to the iPhone through a wireless access point, or through a Web site.

It is pretty clear that hackers around the world are working on ways to find a way past the security on this newly launched internet device. But this is the first major exploitation of an iPhone security flaw that has been declared by the researchers.

The group said on the website that hackers can possibly create a network with the same name and encryption method as one the handset already uses. They would then be able to substitute a Web page with exploit code to gain access to the phone.

The Apple iPhone is able to gain access to the internet through wi-fi networks. It comes loaded with a customized version of Safari web browser which can be made to open a malicious web page. This could result in some malicious code running on the phone leaking the information stored on it.
