VMware Fusion Release Candidate 1 released

VMware Inc. has announced the release of the first release candidate of their upcoming Fusion Virtualization software.

This software has been developed for the Apple Mac platform and would allow the users to run Windows on Intel-based machines.

This would challenge Apple’s own Boot Camp application and Parallels Inc.’s similar Virtualization software product.

The company said that the RC1 version of Fusion application is now feature complete and is available as a free download from their website for anyone who wants to check it out.

The latest update to the software includes “Unity” support for Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003 and the 64-bit edition of Windows XP.

Some other changes in this update include improvements to Boot Camp VM performance, faster resume from the Mac’s suspend state, bug fixes and “experimental” support for the developer’s edition of Leopard.

The final version of VMware Fusion is expected to ship sometime next month. It is already available on pre-order for $39.99. It would sell for $79.99 after launch.
