Apple iPhone lack support for 64-bit Windows XP or Vista

Users of the 64-bit Windows XP or Vista operating system are unlikely to be able to use the recently launched Apple iPhone device.

The problem exists with the Apple iTunes application which apparently does not work with these operating systems.

The details are given in the ‘iPhone: Minimum system requirements‘ page where the company has specifically written: ‘64-bit editions of Windows are not supported’.

This means that iPhone owners running 64 bit editions of XP and Vista would either have to move to regular versions of these operating systems or find an alternate machine to activate and use their newly acquired mobile devices.

It is not clear if the company aims to fix this problem in the near future.
