McAfee releases beta of Total Protection 2.0 consumer security software
Security software maker McAfee has released the beta of their upcoming Total Protection 2.0 consumer security software.
The company said that the beta would be available on their site as a free download until August 1, 2007.
Beta testers would be able to use it till September 1 this year. McAfee plans to continue providing the latest signature files till that time.
McAfee is further hoping to launch the final version of the product by the end of September month this year.
The company did not reveal much on the new features in this application. McAfee said: “The main point is going to be performance. Last year when we rolled out Total Protection there were a lot of complaints about the performance.”
They added: “This year we’re focused on streamlining the experience and making it a lot more consumer friendly.”
Looks like McAfee is realizing that bloatware is not going to help sell their software. Performance and good results would.
