Microsoft still not allowing Vista Home and Home Premium virtualization on Mac
Microsoft had planned to announce their plans to change their policy to not allow owners of Vista Home and Home Premium to use the operating system under virtualization on Apple Mac.
However, the company changed their stance at the last moment and is continuing with their existing policy. A company spokesperson said on their decision: “Microsoft has reassessed the Windows virtualization policy and decided that we will maintain the original policy announced last fall.”
Microsoft had earlier said that they were going to change the policy after receiving customer feedback related to this policy. They had planned to change the EULA (End User Licensing Agreement) to allow virtualization of these cheaper variants of the Vista operating system.
Scott Woodgate, director of the Windows Vista team had said at that time: “We are always listening to the community with regards to licensing. Security is still a concern, but we are enabling the customer to make that choice.”
As a result, customers would have to continue using Vista Business, Ultimate or Enterprise if they want to run virtualized versions under the Mac platform.
