Microsoft could change the way Vista uses Desktop Search tools
Market sources say that Microsoft is now likely to change the way Vista uses Desktop Search tools. This has become necessary after search engine giant Google complained to U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) that the Vista OS made it tough for the user to change the default search tool used by the operating system.
The reports in the media suggests that Microsoft has now reached an agreement with the DOJ and as a result they would make it easier for end users to employ desktop search programs made by rival software developers.
Microsoft is also now likely to provide more information to rival software makers like Google on how their tools could run smoothly on the Vista operating system.
These changes are likely to be introduced in the Vista Service Pack 1 release.
Incidentally, Microsoft had originally denied that its own desktop search interfered with non-Microsoft indexing software. The company said that the Vista’s built in desktop search tools can be turned off.
