Steve Ballmer: Google’s complaint regarding desktop search baseless
Google recently complained with the Department of Justice that Microsoft Vista makes it tough for the user to switch to rival desktop search engine services.
Microsoft bundles their own desktop search application with the Vista OS. Google started the trend by launching their own Google Desktop application.
Microsoft’s Chief Executive Steve Ballmer has now said in a statement that Google’s claims are pretty baseless.
Ballmer further claimed that the company is complying with a 2002 antitrust settlement with their Vista OS.
He said: “We continue to comply with the consent decree we signed with the U.S. government in recognition to the findings around our position with Windows. We think all claims to the contrary are baseless.”
