Linux industry specialist Tom Hanrahan joins Microsoft
Tom Hanrahan, a former director of engineering for the Open Source Development Labs and current director of engineering for the Linux Foundation has now joined the software giant Microsoft.
He would now be heading the Microsoft’s interoperability lab which was created as part of their deal with Linux company Novell last year.
Hanrahan has also worked as a senior program manager of IBM’s Linux Technology Center in Beaverton, Ore. He later joined the Open Source Development Labs in Beaverton in 2004.
Microsoft has been in loggerheads with the Linux Foundation ever since they claimed that the Linux OS and other open source products infringed on their patented technologies.
Hanrahan joins Microsoft with 30 years of experience in engineering management and open source community development. He would be reporting directly to Bill Hilf, general manager of Microsoft’s Platform Strategy Group.
