Microsoft sees gains from Asian market in mobile software division
Software giant Microsoft has said that they expect sales of its Windows Mobile program in the Asia-Pacific region to improve comprehensively in the coming months.
The company stands to benefit from closer ties with wireless carriers and device makers.
Microsoft trails in the mobile software market with Symbian dominating the industry. They are also now aiming to cater to the demand for high-data applications.
A company spokesperson said on their expectations: “Unit shipment (growth) in Asia will exceed 75 percent this fiscal year, and that’s a comfortable number.”
Tony Mestres, general manager of Microsoft’s mobile business had more information: “We are in talks with all key players in Japan’s wireless (market). We’re on the right track.”
They are already working with Softbank in japan who have now launched two handsets with Microsoft’s Windows Mobile software.
