Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac final candidate supports 3D gaming and SmartSelect

Parallels has announced their final candidate version of the Parallels Desktop for Mac application. The software product is in version 3.0 now and feature support for 3D gaming.

The company added that this updated product also includes a new feature named SmartSelect. This feature is technically an integration tool which would enable the users to open up any file from Windows or Mac OS X using an application from either operating system.

The addition of 3D gaming support is good news for the Mac users who want to play Windows platform games. The new version has 3D support for OpenGL and DirectX and gamers would be able to run Windows games from inside Parallels without having to reboot.

The release also comes with “Snapshots” feature which would let the users store Parallels’ “virtual machine” state. These would be saved at custom intervals and users would be able to switch back to a previous state. The application would also ship with a six-month trial of virus and spyware protection.
