Apple prepares the iTunes store as DRM free music is coming up next
Apple Inc. has taken a new step with their iTunes store by launching their new iTunes Plus service. Looks like the company is all set to launch the EMI’s catalog of digital media in DRM Free format.
Apple released an update to their iTunes application now in version 7.2. This updated application brings support for the new DRM-free music sales.
Apple and EMI had announced in April this year that they would soon be bringing DRM free music to iTunes store.
Apple mentions in a note to iTunes users: “With iTunes 7.2, preview and purchase iTunes Plus music - new higher-quality, DRM-free music downloads from participating music labels.”
Apple added: “The first time you buy an iTunes Plus song, you specify whether to make all future purchases iTunes Plus versions (when available). You can change this setting by accessing your account information on the iTunes Store.”
Apple has released this updated edition for both Windows and Mac platform. It can be updated through the software mechanism from existing versions or users can download it from the Apple website.
