Jajah gets the support from Deutsche Telekom
Telecom giant Deutsche Telekom has said in a statement that they are going to support Web telephone-calling start-up Jajah.
With this DT has now shown that they are ready to embrace the technology which would directly challenge their established long-distance and mobile phone businesses.
Jajah provides their services enabling the customer to make long-distance calls for the cost of a local call.
Calls made to other Jajah service users are totally free of cost. Jajah Chief Executive Trevor Healy admitted in his statement on this new development: “This is the first time a major carrier is coming downstream to partner with a consumer Web-calling player.”
Deutsche Telekom added that they would now incorporate Jajah into its T-Online Web properties. They plan to soon start offering calling services to consumers and businesses using their technology.
Jajah has already signed up more than 2 million users and are hoping to gain a user base of around 5 million customers by the end of the current year.
Andreas Kindt, chairman of the investment committee of T-Online Venture Fund spoke about their deal: “The communication landscape is rapidly evolving. By investing in companies like Jajah, we will be able to continue to bring users around the world the innovative solutions they are looking for.”
T-Online Ventures is the Deutsche Telekom’s venture capital unit and it has just disclosed that they are part of a third round of funding for Jajah.
