Microsoft funding development of open source versions of their digital-identity technology
Software giant Microsoft has said that as part of their plan to promote identity management across multiple platforms they are now funding several open source projects to develop open-source versions of its digital-identity technology for information cards.
The company has also now released another specification for building a Web-based architecture to support centralized digital identity.
This architecture is called Identity Metasystem and it is a part of their Open Specification Promise (OSP) program.
Microsoft’s Jean Paoli, general manager for interoperability and XML architecture added that Microsoft’s Identity Selector Interoperability Profile (ISIP) is also now available under OSP.
The company is also supporting another project which is being developed to implement a library for the C programming languages that can be used by any Web site or service to leverage information cards on Windows using Microsoft’s Visual Studio developer toolkit.
