Gmail now supports 20 megabytes of file attachments
Google has updated their Gmail webmail service to allow their users to send attachments of size up to 20 MB.
This means that Gmail users can now send bigger files to their friends and relatives. Competing services like Microsoft’s Live Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail does not allow this much capacity for file attachments.
This is not exactly going to benefit a lot of users because most other competing services would not accept mails with such huge attachments.
As a result, Gmail users would have to limit the usage to other Gmail members and users of paid services which allow bigger attachments.
Also, many users have complained that Google does not show any kind of a progress bar when the files are being uploaded. this has not been resolved yet. With Gmail now supporting bigger attachments, they need to add some kind of a progress bar to show how much of the files have been uploaded.
