Symantec to ship Norton smartphone suite next week

Security applications maker Symantec is all set to launch their latest product to complement their mobile security product line next week.

Symantec would be launching new products designed for Microsoft’s Mobile platform. This would include a consumer product called Norton Mobile Security for Smartphones and an enterprise solution named Symantec Mobile Security 5.0.

The company said that these two products would go on sale later this month.

Symantec incidentally already sells their security products for the Symbian operating system along with an antivirus application for the Windows Mobile platform. These latest solutions provide more comprehensive security solutions for the mobile devices.

The company said that their latest solutions would come powered with antivirus, antispam, firewall and data encryption capabilities and they are also going to provide an optional VPN (virtual private network) component for users who want to securely connect with their corporate servers.

Symantec added that Norton Mobile Security for Smartphones will cost US$49.95. The enterprise edition of Symantec Mobile Security 5.0 will be priced at $79.95.
