Microsoft working on plans to offer Vista OS on subscription

Software giant Microsoft is working on fine tuning its FlexGo initiative for developing world PCs. For this project they are working with several partners including AMD, Infineon, Intel, and Via Technologies.

The project’s aim is to develop a subscription business model through local telephone companies to provide computers to the people.

Sources say that this project would use the Microsoft’s Vista operating system using a new security chip from Infineon.

The company added that they have decided that a subscription model working through telcos was the best approach considering most of the families would already be dealing with a telecom company.

David Foster, general manager of the program for Microsoft added: “We are going forward with both our original pay-as-you-go and subscription business models, but our main focus will be on telcos and a subscription model.”
