Sun Microsystems showcases JavaFX scripting language
Sun Microsystems has showcased a preview version of their under development scripting language for the web developers named JavaFX.
This could be their first major step to move beyond Java which is a multi-platform programming language.
Rich Green, Sun’s executive VP for software spoke about this new upcoming programming language: “Our new focus is on consumers and multimedia.”
He added that this new language platform would feature a “complete line of content-creation tools” that’ll make it easier for nonprogrammers to create user interfaces.
The company added that the JavaFX would be closely integrated with Java’s Standard Edition. They also showcased Java Mobile FX, a software stack for Linux aimed at high-end cell phones. Sun had acquired this from SavaJe Technologies and they are now trying to persuade wireless carriers and handset makers to try it out.
Sun CEO Jonathan Schwartz added about their future vision: “We tend to look at the PC and say that’s the Internet but that’s not reflective of the real opportunity around the world.”
