Google Earth could soon feature sounds to accompany pictures
Google Earth application already has satellite imagery accompanied with photos connected to some of the high profile places.
The service could soon get sounds as well if we are to believe the incoming reports. Bernie Krause, whose California-based company Wild Sanctuary has created a software technology which can add sound effects to relevant locations on Google Earth said: “Our objective is to bring the world alive.”
He added: “We have all the continents of the world, high mountains and low deserts.”
Interestingly, Krause has over a period of 40 years collected over 3,500 hours of sound recordings from across the world.
If this is integrated with the Google Earth application, it could make browsing around the Google Earth application more effective. Krause plans to make a demonstration of his technology with 26 sounds later this month.
Let’s hope Google checks it out and make it a part of the excellent experience Google Earth already is.
