Red Hat launches Red Hat Exchange platform
Linux Company Red Hat has announced the formal launch of their Red Hat Exchange on Thursday. With this launch, the company aims to become a ringleader for third-party, open-source applications.
Their Red Hat Exchange platform would allow business applications from more than a dozen software vendors that have built their products to run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and the JBoss platform.
Red Hat said that the customers who have a service subscription will be able to access the RHX applications through consolidated billing. The service would offer the customers application profiles, user ratings and reviews, free trials, and purchase options.
Red Hat also would be providing a “single point of contact” for support issues. All the RHX applications are validated by Red Hat to run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
MySQL AB Executive Vice President Mark Burton said in a statement on this launch: “Through Red Hat Exchange customers can receive monthly software updates and support services for their MySQL database applications as part of an integrated Red Hat offering.”
