Joost struggling to meet the sudden spike in demand
Internet based television service Joost had opened up its service earlier this month. The beta testers of Joost are now free to invite any number of new users to the service.
This resulted in a massive jump in the number of people connecting to the service to watch television online and the company is now facing issues with the stability of the system.
Joost technically is based on a p2p mechanism which allows the users to share their bandwidth to let other people watch the same content.
However, the software is still dependent on the distributed data center servers to connect and gather relevant information.
Joost chief executive Fredrik de Wahl admitted in a statement that they are struggling to meet the demand and are working on it. The company added that this would help them prepare for the upcoming public launch of the service.
Joost added that it is enhancing its worldwide offering with the addition of international, regional and local partners on a continual basis. The content available on Joost is primarily focused on the US market.
