Joost launched commercially
The people behind Skype have now commercially launched their latest product named Joost. They claim that Joost is the first broadcast-quality Internet television service in the world.
Joost has been undergoing beta testing for months now and interested users were put on a waiting list. The invites were released regularly but it made it tough for people to get access to the service.
We had received our copy of the beta application but it did not work at our end probably due to some technical issues.
The founders said that now anyone with an internet connection would be able to test out Joost. Beta testers are now allowed to invite anyone to use the system.
The developers have said that the service currently provides around 150 channels to check out on the service and they have already signed up more than 30 global advertisers.
David Clark, executive vice president of global advertising for Joost had this to say on the launch: “Today marks the beginning of an exciting phase for Joost– we are officially open for business. We’re enabling our viewers to share Joost with their friends and family, and we’re working collaboratively with the world’s leading advertisers and agencies to design a new ad model for the next generation of television.”
