Mozilla to continue supporting Firefox 1.5

Open source software developers Mozilla have said that they are now extending their plans to support the users of their Firefox 1.5.0.x browser until mid-May.

Mozilla said that they need to release a patch that would automatically update the Firefox users to the latest version which is currently 2.x.x.

Their earlier plans were to end supporting the Firefox 1.5.x editions till April 25. They had released the latest in this series last month (Mozilla Firefox 1.5.11).

Mozilla is already working on the next updated release which is due to carry fixed for several bugs in the software. The developers said that they would plan on releasing an update to get the users of Firefox 1.5 to upgrade to Firefox 2 after releasing Firefox 1.5.0.12.

This release is currently schedule to ship on May 15. Mozilla also recently launched the second major edition of their Thunderbird email client.
