Google: Bug in personalized homepages resolved now
Search engine giant Google has now confirmed that they have fixed the bug in their personalized homepage service which resulted in disappearing customizations for the web users.
A Google representative said in a statement: “A number of Google users had difficulty accessing their settings and preferences on the personalized version of their homepages over the past day. Users should have their personalized homepages restored at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused our users. We know how important Google Personalized Homepage is to our users, so we take issues like this very seriously.”
The company did not reveal the number of users who might have experienced this problem. Google also did not reveal much on what caused these problems.
Users are now asking the company to let them save the configuration of their personalized homepages to their own machines so that they can keep a backup of a setting file for use in case the service goes down in the future.
Google can help the users by offering to download let’s say an XML file with their personalization.
