Google postpones Google Calendar maintenance schedule
Search engine giant Google had recently posted that they were going to conduct planned 13-hour maintenance of Google Calendar service.
However, the plans have been postponed or rather scrapped for the time being as the announcement resulted in confusion for the end users of the service.
A company spokesperson responded on this decision: “Google is focused on its users, and in this case we listened to user feedback in making our decision.”
They had earlier stated that the maintenance schedule was timed between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursday. However, they did not provide a time zone which led to confusion amongst the users.
There were also concerns related to this maintenance period considering it was slated for a weekday rather than the weekend. Google has now said that future work on their calendar service will be coordinated in a way that doesn’t affect Google Apps users at all.
A company spokesperson added: “We are actively working on changes in routine maintenance procedures for other products on the Google Apps platform so updates such as these will either take place outside of peak hours or not impact our customers at all. We are sorry for any confusion this has caused.”
