Microsoft launches Windows “Longhorn” server for public beta testing

Software giant Microsoft has started the public beta testing of their upcoming server operating system codenamed Longhorn.

Microsoft added that the server product is on track for a scheduled launch in the second half of the year. They are expecting a large number of people to download this product for beta testing.

This is the third beta of the Longhorn server and the final product would be taking over from the current Windows Server 2003.

Interested users can get access to this released beta edition at the Microsoft’s website.

Bill Laing, general manager of the Windows Server Division at Microsoft spoke on the Longhorn server: “As they take it for a test drive, our customers and partners will find we made some vast improvements in Windows Server ‘Longhorn’ to help them reduce costs and adapt to changing business needs. Between early adopter customers and Microsoft IT, we have hundreds of servers running in production environments today. If there’s one message we want to send today, it is get ready, download and evaluate.”
