Microsoft aims to double computer users by 2015
Software giant Microsoft has said that they are now aiming to double the number of computer users around the world.
They aim to have 2 billion computer users around the world by 2015. Microsoft would be taking steps like offering cheap software in developing nations to promote computers.
The company added that they are planning to offer a software package called Microsoft Student Innovation Suite for $3 to governments purchasing and giving Windows-based computer to primary and secondary students.
This suite would be available in the second half of the current year and would include Windows XP Starter Edition, Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007, Windows Live Mail desktop and other programs.
Orlando Ayala, senior vice president at Microsoft’s emerging segments market development group added on this program: “This is not a philanthropic effort, this is a business.”
