Microsoft releases Windows Media Player plug-in for Firefox 2

Software giant Microsoft has answered some questions from people who criticize them for not supporting alternative browsers with their software products.

The company has now released their Windows Media Player plug-in for the popular open source web browser application Mozilla Firefox 2.

Microsoft said that this plug-in fixes issues reported by the users of their earlier plug-in. This new Firefox add-on would enable Firefox users to run Windows Media files on their browser without any hassles.

The plug-in is now available as a free download from the Firefox’s add-on site and works with 32-bit and 64-bit XP SP2 and Windows Vista. Linux support is of course not available.

The company said that they are also developing another plug-in for Firefox to add support for CardSpace, Microsoft’s identity management technology.
