IBM OmniFind Yahoo Edition to be updated today
IBM and Yahoo! are set to launch their updated enterprise search tool today. The product is named IBM OmniFind Yahoo Edition and it is a free alternative to the Google’s Search Appliance which can be quite expensive for the smaller companies to use.
The two companies are expected to launch the updated product today. The updated version is likely to offer a new search interface that is easier to customize. This would allow the companies to rebrand to service to look similar to their existing layout of the websites.
The updated IBM OmniFind Yahoo Edition would also feature improved metadata support. This should allow the search engine to better index the content made available it. As a result, the results are likely to be more efficient.
IBM and Yahoo added that they are also integrating support for more languages. Craig Nelson, iCentera’s president and chief executive officer spoke about using this product in their company: “The search engine lets them sift through hundreds of documents very quickly and find the two or three documents that are meaningful.”
