Microsoft reports a major security bug in DNS Server Service
Software giant Microsoft has confirmed that a major vulnerability exists in several of their server software applications.
The problem exists in DNS Server Service which can enable hackers to run unauthorized code on affected computers.
The company added that the attacks using this issue are not widespread yet and they are already working on a fix on this issue.
They have not revealed how soon a patch would be available to fix this issue. They are not due to release their monthly patches till May 8.
Microsoft incidentally just released their latest round of patches earlier this week.
The flaw in the DNS Server Service can cause a stack-based buffer overrun in the DNS Server’s RPC interface. The company has listed several workarounds for the customers using the affected applications till the time a patch is released.
