Microsoft wants PC makers to stop selling XP machines by the end of the year
As per incoming reports software giant Microsoft would force the PC makers around the world to stop selling computers loaded with Windows XP operating system.
The plan is to get them to sell machines loaded with their recently launched Vista operating system. Interestingly, this comes at a time when research reports claim that people prefer to stay with the XP as Vista users face compatibility issues with legacy hardware and software products.
World’s second largest personal computer maker Dell has claimed that their customers too prefer to get their machines with the XP operating system.
The company said that the demand for the XP is particularly strong among small and medium-sized businesses. They plan to continue to offer XP powered machines in the future.
Tom West, director of small business marketing at Dell wrote in a blog post: “Dell recognizes the needs of small business customers and understands that more time is needed to transition to a new operating system. The plan is to continue offering Windows XP on select Dimension and Inspiron systems until later this summer.”
However, their consumer products are being sold with the Vista operating system which has disappointed a lot of Dell users.
