Sun Microsystems acquires SavaJe Technologies

US based tech giant Sun Microsystems has announced that they are acquiring the intellectual property of SavaJe Technologies.

SavaJe Technologies is a provider of Mobile Java application development tools and they offer the SavaJe Mobile Platform.

The SavaJe Mobile Platform is essentially an open Java platform which is used by mobile phone makers and service providers to brand and add features to mobile phones.

Sun had made available their Java language code to the open source community as they wanted the developers to create applications based on the technology.

The company did not reveal the financial aspects of their deal with SavaJe Technologies. Sun did say that the amount was insignificant. They would be coming out with more details at the JavaOne Conference scheduled for May 8-11 in San Francisco.
