Airport Extreme Base Station update released by Apple
Apple Inc has released some new updates for their Airport Extreme Base Station. The company says that the latest update fixes two security flaws in the Wi-Fi router.
Apple added that the bugs existed in certain versions of the Base Station that prevented the router from acting as a firewall by blocking IPv6 traffic by default.
The company added in their security advisory: “This may expose network services on hosts connected through an AirPort Extreme Base Station with 802.11n to remote attacks.”
Apple alerted that the problem only affected the 802.11n versions of the router. They are recommending that the owners of the affected hardware download the latest version of the AirPort software on their computers before installing the router’s firmware update.
