Second Life to charge users for customized names
This is going to disappoint a lot of current users of the virtual reality application Second Life. The company running the project has announced that they would soon begin charging the residents of the service a fee for having customized names.
“Second Life” spokesman Alex Yenni said that this feature would cost between $100 up front and $50 a year and they are likely to have it in place by the end of the year.
As of now, the residents on the online universe can get any name of their choice for free. Linden Research further said that they have approved special names to only a select group of high-profile members. They are not charging anything for this service as of now.
The aim is to prevent any kind of fake personalities residing on the Second Life as now it is inhibited by several popular faces from the corporate and political world.
