Google Desktop now available for Apple Mac
Search engine giant Google has done what a lot of Mac owners wanted them to do. The company has now released the Mac version of their popular Google Desktop application.
Incidentally, Mac users already have a fairly decent and heavily integrated solution in the form of Apple’s Spotlight. Google said that their Google Desktop application would work alongside the Mac OS X 10.4 feature perfectly.
Rose Yao, Google Desktop for Mac Product Manager added: “We designed Google Desktop for Mac to be a companion for Spotlight. Google Desktop searches users’ Web history and you can set it up to search Gmail too.”
Another interesting aspect is that Google Desktop application would automatically utilize any Spotlight plug-ins users have on their systems. As a result, extension developers would not have to code anything special for the Google’s application.
Maybe the next application Google would release for the Mac is the Picasa. A lot of Mac owners have demanded that the company release the Picasa for the Mac… Google Desktop for Linux would help a lot!
