Microsoft now testing Office 2008 for Mac
Software giant Microsoft has already released their latest Office 2007 for the Windows OS. The company has also now begun testing of their upcoming Office 2008 for Mac.
Office 2008 for Mac is due to appear in retail stores later this year. This updated edition would bring support for the newly introduced XML based file formats being used by the Office 2007.
In addition, the new Office for Mac would also be the first version of Office that runs natively on both Intel- and Power PC-based Macs.
The company did not reveal how many beta testers are going to test out the Mac version. It is also not clear whether a public beta would be released for a widespread testing.
Microsoft added that the new version would come with a new software application named My Day, which gives users quick access to calendar information without requiring them to first go into the Entourage e-mail program.
The most recent Office for Mac was released in 2004.
