Creative Suite 3: GoLive replaced with Dreamweaver
Adobe’s GoLive application failed to entice away customers of Dreamweaver. Now that Adobe has acquired Macromedia, they have decided to dump GoLive for Dreamweaver in the recently launched Creative Suite 3.
The company said that it was their customers who persuaded them to dump GoLive for Dreamweaver. Adobe however still plans to continue developing GoLive as a standalone product.
Before the two companies combined to form a single identity, Adobe dominated the graphic market with their Photoshop application while Macromedia was preferred for web development for their Dreamweaver application.
Now, the two forces have joined hands and the customers are benefiting from better integrated products. Kenneth Berger, Adobe’s Dreamweaver Product Manager spoke on this development: “This is just a huge workflow improvement for Dreamweaver users. When we looked at what was important for this release it was Photoshop because of the overlap of the users – an overwhelming percentage of Dreamweaver users also use Photoshop.”
He added: “One of the things that made me excited about this release is that we attacked the huge problems that customers have in designing for the Web.”
