Google Pack now includes Spyware Doctor Starter Edition

Search engine giant Google has now updated their Google Pack application suite to add Spyware Doctor Starter Edition. This comes in addition to the Norton Security Scan application.

Both these applications are security tools which are designed to find and remove viruses, worms and spyware from the computer.

Google Pack already has other interested tools including Google Earth, Picasa, Google Talk, Adobe Acrobat Reader and other applications.

Jen Albornoz Mulligan, an analyst at Forrester Research spoke on this updated suite from the company: “It is almost always a benefit to security to have that kind of defense in-depth. Having this sort of free security products through Google is a great benefit for users. This offering is impressive.”

Google Product Manager Jesse Savage added about the Google Photos Screensaver product in this suite: “Now you can turn your computer into a digital picture frame that displays pictures from photo feeds — continuously updated streams of photos from the Web. Many of your favorite photo-sharing sites support them already, so it’s easy to keep in touch with your friends and family this way.”

The Spyware Doctor version offered by Google is build .169. The latest “fix” PC Tools has tried to pass off on us unhappy campers is build .174. Go ahead, take the free Google offer. You’ll get what you pay for.
