Microsoft Office 2007 Hindi Edition released

Software giant Microsoft has announced the availability of Hindi version of 2007 Microsoft Office software. The company aims to boost the use of computers in the country with this updated Office suite.

The company said that the Hindi edition will be available with Microsoft Office Professional 2007 and Microsoft Office Standard 2007 versions.

This release is essentially part of the company’s Project Bhasha which they started few years back to promote local language computing in India.

Microsoft Office System Product Lead Pankaj Ukey said in a statement: “The need for local language software is crucial to deliver the benefits of IT at the grassroot level in a multilingual country like India. The Hindi version will help us extend these benefits to over 3,372 million Hindi speaking population in the country.”

Microsoft also has plans to launch Language Interface Packs (LIPs) for 2007 Microsoft Office in 13 Indian languages they aim to support Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Punjabi, Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, Nepali, Konkani, Telugu, Urdu, Assamese and Oriya.
