Microsoft claims Vista sales an improvement on Windows XP
Software giant Microsoft has said in a statement that they have managed to sell more than 20 million Windows Vista licenses in the first month.
The company launched the Vista operating system in January this year. Microsoft claimed that the pace of Vista adoption is at more than twice the rate of its predecessor, Windows XP.
XP had only managed to sell just around 17 million licenses after its first two months of release. Bill Mannion, a director in the Windows marketing group said in a statement: “It’s a little bit better than what we were expecting.”
Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer had predicted before the launch of the Vista OS that they are expecting the consumer to move to Vista faster than past Windows upgrades.
Microsoft powers more than 95% of the desktop computers around the world.
