Yahoo! is the first major Linux customer of Oracle
Database industry giants Oracle recently announced the launch of Linux support program for Red Hat Linux. The company has now announced that the internet company Yahoo! is their first big customer.
Oracle CEO Larry Ellison added that they have also signed several new support contracts and some of these new accounts are worth over half a million dollars.
Red Hat in a statement has claimed that Oracle has not exactly replaced Red Hat as Yahoo’s Linux provider. A Yahoo! representative was quoted as saying in the media that company’s current infrastructure leverages both Red Hat and Oracle Linux products.
Ellison added in his statement that Dell, HP, and CDW have all signed on to resell Oracle Enterprise Linux along with their Linux support services.
