Microsoft to release Office Communications Server 2007 and Office Communicator 2007
Software giant Microsoft has confirmed that they would be releasing a beta version of their unified communications server and client software to the public for download this coming Monday.
This release would include Office Communications Server 2007 and Office Communicator 2007. With this, the company hopes to make a big entry into the enterprise Internet telephony business.
Microsoft aims to help corporations to replace their traditional PBX systems with their own products and services. They would take on similar products offered by rivals including Cisco and Avaya.
Gurdeep Singh Pall, corporate vice president for Microsoft’s real-time collaboration product group claimed in a statement that the company has worked hard to make their product compatible with a range of hardware an enterprise may already be using.
