Oracle: Linux support program has started off well

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison has claimed that they have had a very strong start for their recently launched Linux support program which specifically targeted Red Hat which is the largest distributor of Linux operating system to corporate entities.

The company has however not revealed the progress of the support offering aimed at both Oracle and non-Oracle users.

Ellison said: “This is just the beginning. We’re not going to build a Linux business overnight, but we will build it. We’re determined to offer the best support in the world.”

He added that a lot of third party companies are going to offer their Oracle Red Hat Linux support. He claimed that Dell and HP are going to be on that list.

Oracle claimed that they have replaced Red Hat at Yahoo as their Linux support supplier. This is a huge deal for them. Ellison further claimed that some of the Linux support deals Oracle is signing are worth over $500,000.
