Salesforce.com showcases AppSpace corporate social networking service
Salesforce.com Inc. has showcased their AppSpace hosted service which provides functionality similar to online social networking services like MySpace.com on a company’s network.
With this, Salesforce.com has become the latest of the software giants to enter this growing market. This new service would become a part of the Spring 07 release of the Salesforce hosted CRM (customer relationship management) software.
Kendall Collins, senior vice president of product marketing at Salesforce.com spoke on this project: “We looked at the customer portal concept to see how we could reinvent it. We see the portal more as a space, not a window, in terms of what you can do with it and how you can fill it.”
Collins added: “Our vision for AppSpace is broader. It’s going to include wikis and blogs.” They are already getting several feature addition requests from their customers.
The company would be providing a secure space for collaboration for a company’s internal staff. The service could also be made accessible to external partners if so desired by the client.
