Dell asking customers on their choice of Linux distro
Dell is the world’s second largest personal computer maker after Hewlett Packard. The company recently announced an initiative where they asked their customers suggestions to improve their market position.
One of the hottest suggestions to have emerged was for the company to launch Linux loaded machines. Dell has not exactly confirmed that they are going to launch such products but the company has now begun polling customers about their software preferences today.
Customers are being asked to choose between the popular Linux distributions like the Ubuntu, Fedora, SuSE and the others.
They are also asking the customers to pick more general choices like what kind of machines and tech support would they prefer to get from dell.
Dell software architect Matt Domsch spoke about this new development: “Taking a few minutes to complete this survey will help us define our forthcoming Linux-based system offerings. We’ll take some time to analyze your feedback and work to provide the platforms and options you choose.”

Why doesn’t Dell just ask the Linux vendors what they are using?
